Pics

Single photographs, day-by-day.

Single frames, posted as I make them. New here? The photography page has the why and the how behind the pictures.

The artist with his art

One of the great joys of photography is printing your work. And even better - printing it large! Hannah got these frames cheap and asked me to print these photos from my portfolio for them. They came out great and I'm really probably enjoying them more than she is so far!

Butterfly at work

Saw a butterfly feeding on a huge button flower plant today on a quiet bike ride in a state park.

A collage of 6 images each a different color of the side of a farm tractor

Tractors!

At the Ashtabula County Antique Engine Club annual big show this year I decided to try to capture all the variety and color of the tractors in this abstract collage. The show has tractors of all sizes as well as oil well engines, pump engines, and electric generators. A very cool display of decades of innovation and technological progress.

Tall Ship Parade

I think I might have to go to the parade of sail this July in Boston. Last time I got this shot with nothing but my kit lens. My telephoto and I can probably get some spectacular shots this time.

Yellow flowers in evening light cropped close in great detail.

Sunny yellow flowers

In the "hellstrip", aptly named, between our sidewalk and the street, Hannah managed to grow these beautiful flowers. Taking the macro lens out for a walk through the garden this evening really paid off!

Boston by Night

Was out late last night in Boston and caught this imperfect shot of the moon over Copley Square. The Montana kid in me can still be surprised I live here!

Hello, World

I took this selfie in Butte Montana while visiting my mom. I thought the new jacket and new sunglasses are a fitting way to reintroduce myself to the world via my new website. Hello!

Fisherman's Memorial

One of the only memorials to a non-military non-first responder worker I have seen in the US.

An acorn stands alone

I enjoyed using my new macro lens to get more of a glimpse into the life of bugs. Here it's just evidence of their hard work to get to the food inside this acorn.

Peeling bark

I took my macro lens out for a spin at a nearby botanical garden and was impressed with the results. I've never seen a paper bark variety of a maple. Very cool!

Winter contrasts

Between blizzards this winter I took my camera out to experiment with photographing snowy scenes. I have a lot to learn for next winter, but I enjoyed the texture and composition of this picture.
